"Science and technology is not given. It was made by people like us. If it's not doing for us what we want, we have a right and a responsibility to change it. We need a clear view of what we want for science and technology and the courage to stand up and do something about it."

  1. i used to trip out on human development because it seem'd to me that we were working tward some unspecified goal
    advancing, growing, but tword what
recently i'v felt that laws are actually our aspired goals
a list of things we'd like to stop doing
we being a very suspecious collective
so not do'n things seems to be the order of the day as far as developmental goals
i don't think the "justice system" has really taken up the job of teacher or assistant very well
ignoring the people who require the most help in reaching these goals is the order of the day too
i was talking with my dad about prisons being more about revenge than being "correctional facilitys" as they often claim
in a rare moment he actually agreed
which means to me that it's not just me being a hippy fag but that it's likely in such a state that very few people will deny that prisons are not ment to help people change but are there to be abusive to those who are not hitting the marks that society has set as goals
    whats up with that
"tough love" is a weak cop out for being an asshole

  2. Tom and I talk a lot about how people respond more to bad things than they do to good things. You could maybe look at prisons as a place where we put misbehaving adults so that they get more attention. And so people who aren't getting love act out, for obvious reasons. And it plays right into the abusive dad approach that authority so often takes.

"Our goals do not include helping you get a good grade. Sorry."
