Where the Wild Things Are by Spike Jonez

I haven't watched it yet but everyone is going on and on about watching it over and over:

I have to wait for the store to be empty so I can really digest it.

In Search of...

Damn, I was at the video store the other day and ran into a friend. He reminded me of his (and my) obsession with "In Search Of...". He was renting "In Seach of Ancient Astronauts." I wish they were out on video but a bunch are up at Youtube. I could watch them all day.

The "second" Pilot: In Search of Ancient Mysteries:

Ghosts in Photography:

Other Voices:

The Elephant Man:

Ancient Astronauts (the "first" pilot):

There are a bunch of parts and a bunch of other ones. But, I know what I'm doing tomorrow. Thanks, anonymous friend.

Catshit One!

Much respect to Greig and Heidi for the link:

Man Made Monster

I was looking for the Lon Chaney movie "the Monster" but then I found Man Made Monster:

The Ultimate Warrior

So this movie is basically the link between I Am Legend and Road Warrior. If you combined it and Death Race 2000 you'd have the Road Warrior. Pretty amazing movie and a sort of improvement on Omega Man. But also one of those movies where it doesn't seem like anybody could fight well enough to be called the Ultimate Warrior. Brujeria aftermath.

I got to see Brujeria last night and they were kind of amazing. They are a combination of totally shitty garage punk and mosh heavy grindcore and a hip hop show. It sounds bad but it had to be seen to be believed. The whole time I was thinking about how amazing it is that Shane Embury is in that band and that he is so much this guy who has just made that kind insane music his life. Here is a great interview with him. Also Juan Brujo is my hero.

Keep on Trekkin'

Somebody told me the rule about even numbered Star Trek movies being good. While I don't fully agree with it (I don't hate 1 or 3) I have to say I agree. Everyone knows Khan but the Voyage Home and Undiscovered Country are pretty great. Undiscovered Country (6) is really funny and has a ton of weird dialogue in it. It is also this crazy thinly veiled take on the cold war. I need to watch First Contact again, next.

Some day I'll see if the same rule applies to episodes of Next Generation.
