Lunchfilm in Portland

LUNCHFILM is the brainchild of the notorious Mike Plante, film programmer at large. Mike buys lunch for a filmmaker, who then makes a film with a budget equal to the cost of the lunch. Details/rules are hashed out with a napkin contract while eating. The results are all over the map. The Living Room Theater in Portland is hosting the LUNCHFILM program for one night only, Saturday March 27th. If you are interested in the fleeting fancies of fringe filmmaking you need to watch these shorts!

McCarthyism

Bring on the bad guy:
An interview with Brendan McCarthy about the new Spider-man series:
http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2010/02/high-fever-an-interview-with-brendan-mccarthy/

"I am trying to get away from comics 'aping' movie storytelling. Comics are not films, so panels don't have to be shaped like movie screens. Comics do not move or have sound. They are really, a completely different medium. I know people want to get Hollywood to buy their stories, but I think it's now getting boring to merely copy movie storytelling tropes. Comics are comics, a totally different form! Time for comics to cut loose again."

Cabin Fever

I need to see that movie again, I haven't seen it since it came out. This interview just confirms my fandom for Eli Roth:

oops, wrong video.

I'm still an unapologetic fan of both Hostels.

James Signorelli

James Signorelli, he is the guy that made Easy Money and Elvira. And he films all the film stuff for SNL. I wish there were more of this lecture.

"Then I came to Los Angeles and I started going to meetings and this was at the beginning of the phase of modern horror. All they wanted to speak to me about was doing more films like Chain Saw. At the start of my career, when I was a kid, I always thought more about doing comedies. I love that genre."
