Bleeding lumpy ketchup

The Harder They Come starring Jimmy Cliff is on TCM right now. It's kinda awesome.
Here's one of the best scenes where Jimmy Cliff cuts up a dude's face:

Peace sells but who's buying?

This is one of the worst songs I've ever heard...

Tupac Shakur and 9-11 rest in peace... Check this:

Where does he find these back-up singers? Is it a Hungarian thing, or are they all tone-deaf?

He said he'd be back... it's 2007 and Speak is back... This song might even be worse... yeeeah:

Assante!

Man, this has to be one of the worst/best dvd cases of all times. I found it while looking up Anthony Hickox who directed a movie called Sundown which somebody was just telling me to watch. Have any of you seen it? It sounds good.

10 Years on

Ten years later and the Music Tapes and the Gerbils are the only Elephant 6 bands that I still listen to regularly. I'd never seen this video, it is wonderful:

and they covered All Tomorrow's Parties too:

Tom and I were talking about how we both used to love Elephant 6 bands.

Evidence

So, you all wish you wrote this book and did this this cover. There are some great reviews at Amazon:

Cyborg: Amaryllis is a cyborg hunter, along with two dozen other hunters they are sent on a mission to hunt and kill rogue cyborgs. Cyborgs were created by man but then they started humanizing. This created a scare amongst the humans and the decision to eradicate them was made. Amaryllis's ship was captured by the cyborgs that she was sent to kill. The cyborgs take her and her crew members to their new hide-away planet and expect Amaryllis to mate with them because they have such few females. She is expected to mate with no less than two but no more than four cyborgs to ensure the growth of the new planet.
Amaryllis just wants to go home, she is a soldier not a baby maker.
INTERESTING BOOK....I DID NOT PUT IT DOWN...READ IT COVER TO COVER... Graphic scenes, detailed, threesomes, light bondage, an Alpha-male book totally. What's better than one alpha-male ??? THREE !!! I DEFINETLY [sic]WILL BE READING MORE THAN THIS AUTHOR.

Friday, May 15, 2009

What is going on here?

Please watch the whole thing... It gets CRAZY at around the 1:10 mark:

And I'm completely hypnotized by this:

Best Hour of T.V. Ever Produced!

I honestly believe this to be the best thing I've ever seen.

Behind the Music: JOURNEY

From the early prog-rock years as The Golden Gate Rhythm Section, to finding Steve Perry.

EXPLAINED: The secrets behind "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin" as Steve Perry confesses:
"It had happened to me... the uh... the thing in the song... She was out with someone else... and doin' the deal... y'know the 'WILD THANG'!"

SEE: The "Sentimental Bullshit" that birthed "Corporate Rock!"
AND: The Dark Side of Steve Perry

Just when tensions were reaching an all time high, the band was touched by a devoted fan... "I can see his pleasure..."
WARNING: LOTS OF CRYING!!!

Steve Perry replaced by "Steve Perry with a perm!"

But wait... They forgot to mention the Atari Game?!

And the Arcade Game!

Hudson Brothers

I was lost in nostalgic reverie when I found a DVD set of this show from my childhood:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEcSHOuGPt4
I remember these guys always seemed to be on TV when I was a kid [I think they had two TV series, a flop theatrical movie and even a board game?], even if they never seemed to get "truly" big/rich/famous?
Their biggest US hit, supposedly about Goldie Hawn [Dylan, check out these Gibb-esque harmonies]:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPplmd9H0Ec
but their best song, which ROCKS SO HARD!!!:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT2w-0vJZt4&feature=related
Anyway... I just got both ELECTRIC COMPANY DVD sets, but I'm afraid that I'm enjoying watching the Hudsons even more!

Greatest Music Video Ever???

Speaking of David Lee Roth:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Il4KVUhSdTA
Can you get away with this sort of blatant offense on national TV nowadays??? A Felliniesque remnant from less P.C. days... On my lunch breaks at work, I used to watch a VHS tape of this video about four times a day to relieve mindnumbing stress and make the world seem like an exciting place full of possibilities again...

The first time I showed this vid to my wife, I had a hard time explaining just how at the time, DLR [who appears here in a dazzling array of assless chaps, rainbow-colored off-the-shoulder tops, and what seem to be women's swimsuits???] seemed like the most heterosexual man ON EARTH to my teenage peers!

"Son of a biscuit... My ancestors spit on your haircut!"

I Can Read Movies

As David Lee Roth said, I heard you missed me, well I'm back! [Couldn't figure out how to log on for a while.]

My pal Andy sent me this link I've been dying to share witchoo guyz:
http://spacesick.blogspot.com/2009/01/i-can-read-movies-series.html
"new" movie concepts recast as "old" book jacket designs--very well done!

Coolest toy line ever???

I remember the guy with the purple afro and the fishbowl helmet showing up mangled in a toybox at my later grandparents when I was little--wonder what happened to it?:
http://www.theouterspacemen.com/
[Strangely, I have some two-inch plastic figures that I bought for fifty cents each at a mall store a decade ago--all of them are obviously taken from what might be secondhand molds of these character designs??? The original toys did some borrowing as well, tho--check out the Outer Space Man who's the THIS ISLAND EARTH mutant!]

The Undisputed Truth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV69WBvFGBA

I've been haunted by seeing this clip on VHI fifteen years ago--I just bought a great CD comp of Undisputed Truth stuff last week... There's a BIZARRE track called "UFOs" that I wish all those hipsters who made such a big deal about Can or Gong in the 90s would check out. Another song's called "Poontang"! T.U.T. is basically the group where maverick Motown producer Norman Whitfield would try out his most experimental sounds--many of their tracks later became bigger hits for less freaky Motown acts [check out the UTruth's "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" or the ten-minute "Ball of Confusion"--it's even weirder than Tom Jones' version!].
